Athletics & Physical Education

The Seven Arrows athletics program includes traditional PE classes and dance (each with its own instructors) and is founded on the cultivation of mind and body in the physical development of children. Our program is designed to strengthen students’ social/emotional facility as well as their physical strengths while maintaining their emotional and physical safety as the number one priority. Students learn not only the skills and techniques necessary to thrive as athletes, but also—more important—to practice leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance. Our unique program offers diverse outlets for exploring various aspects of physical strength and development and invites our students to experience firsthand the idea that being an athlete can take multiple forms.

The Seven Arrows Physical Education program includes both structured and non-structured, age-appropriate classes that incorporate games, relays, sports, conditioning, and more. Our curriculum introduces strength, balance, coordination, agility, and flexibility while developing social skills, confidence, and self-esteem. Our goal is to maintain a supportive and non-competitive atmosphere in order to ensure that PE is fun and exciting for all students.

Physical Education

Our Physical Education program also includes annual, community-wide athletic events that highlight our students’ abilities.  These events are a rich component of our athletic curriculum and are held throughout the year to allow students of all ages to participate in fun and challenging activities designed to activate both the body and the mind.

During PE students acquire skills including: gross motor, sports and rules, the importance of health and wellness, communication, conflict resolution, sportsmanship, and more.

Team Sports

Seven Arrows is a member of the Coastal Canyon League and our upper-school students (grades 3-6) compete with other schools in all the league’s team sports offerings. Home games are supported by many members of our community and are played on our very own state-of-the-art Kirkwood Court and at Clover Park. The opportunity to be on a team for a supportive and challenging athletic experience provides benefits that last a lifetime. All upper-school students are encouraged to participate in a team sport.:

Athletics Events

Every year, the Seven Arrows community participates in a variety of Athletics Events. We start the year with the Walk-A-Thon, which is a fun fundraiser in support of our Athletics Department. In the spring, the whole school splits into two teams and competes during Athletics Day. Just before summer break, together we celebrate Family Field Day. Another great event is our Sixth Grade Triathlon, where our Sixth Graders swim, cycle and run in an important rite of passage. The whole school cheers them on as they reach the top of Temescal.

Our student athletes compete with heart, hustle, and pride. From sharp communication and smart decision making to uplifting teammates in big moments, our Seahawks show growth season after season. Whether defending Kirkwood Court or taking on tough opponents on the road, their effort and sportsmanship continue to make our community proud.
