OUR KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM (or Sr Kindergarten) is small by design and highly differentiated, ensuring each child is known, supported, and challenged. Students quickly become integrated into the larger school community through meaningful experiences like studying the Stone Age and performing at Masquerade, community initiatives such as the annual food drive, and our Sixth Grade Buddy program. At Seven Arrows, Kindergarten lays the foundation for confident learners, compassionate leaders, and a lifelong love of learning.

Kindergarten is the primary entry point to Seven Arrows Elementary School and marks the beginning of a joyful, purposeful educational journey. Children must be five years old by July 1 of the year they are applying to be eligible for Kindergarten. Families with younger children are encouraged to explore our Junior Kindergarten (JK) program, which offers a nurturing bridge to Kindergarten and includes automatic admission to Seven Arrows the following year.

Kindergarten Birthdays

For the 2027–2028 school year, children must be five years old by July 1, 2027 to apply for Kindergarten. Applicants who are four years old by July 1, 2027 can stay at their current preschool for one more year or consider applying to our Junior Kindergarten (JK). At Seven Arrows, we believe strong classroom communities are built on a thoughtful balance of age and development. We ask families to apply to the grade that aligns with this cutoff to support both social-emotional growth and classroom cohesion.

For children with birthdays near the cutoff, some families may choose an additional year of preschool. Research shows that children often benefit from being among the older students in a class, and this is a growing trend in Los Angeles. As a result, our Kindergarten classes may trend slightly older, and an extra year can be a thoughtful, developmentally appropriate choice for some children.

Regardless of age, our small-by-design, highly differentiated program ensures every student is met where they are and challenged to grow. Students who are ready for more advanced work are supported to go beyond grade-level expectations, while all learners build confidence, skills, and a love of learning.
